Abstract
Engaging the Musical Mind: Promoting the Value of Music Theory and Analysis Toward Authentic Interpretation and Performance of Selected Works of Francisco Tárrega promotes the application of music theory to learning, memorization, and practice towards strengthening and reinforcing one's performance ability. This is demonstrated through a musical analysis of Francisco Tárrega's Lágrima and Adelita. The analysis, composed of three parts (written, oral, and aural), will examine the devices that form musical composition, demonstrating the value of music theory for learning, memorization, practice, and performance.
