Abstract
This paper explores Edith Stein's phenomenology of authentic womanhood, offering an anthropological analysis of her philosophical contributions to understanding the nature of women and her contribution to communication ethics. Chapter 2 grounds Stein's phenomenology in realist thought, investigating the concepts of empathy, community, emotions, and value ethics as they relate to the feminine experience. Chapter 3 examines Stein’s ontological framework, focusing on the interplay between faith and reason and her integration of Thomistic philosophy. Chapter 4 delves into Stein’s writings on women, analyzing her reflections on gender, identity, and the lived experience of women in light of her phenomenological method. The discussion highlights Stein's nuanced exploration of the "Feminine Genius," emphasizing her distinctive approach to women's role in the world. Chapter 5 shifts to Stein’s contribution to communication ethics, particularly her influence on dialogic ethics, emphasizing the relational and communicative dimensions of human existence. The paper concludes with an exploration of the implications of Stein’s work for contemporary discussions on gender and ethics, along with suggestions for future research avenues in the fields of phenomenology of communication, dialogue, and dialogic ethics.
