Abstract
Participation in field trips is obviously appealing to geology or earth-science tachers. However, geology field trips are also useful to teachers of other disciplines, non-science as well as science. A number of secondary-school teachers of biology, English, and Spanish have participated in our Grand Canyon field trips since 1986. Such teachers have subsequently improved their curricula by applying what they have learned on the trip. These teachers have increased their students' scientific awareness and interest through enthusiastic descriptions of first-hand experiences and concrete visual images through slides, maps, and specimens. -Authors
